Golf tournaments

Golf tournament signage checklist.

A charity scramble needs signs in five places: registration (welcome banner, feather flag, table throw), the course (18 hole sponsor signs plus longest drive, closest to the pin and putting green), sponsor banners, games and awards. The one line item answer is our Signature 30 Sign Package at $495, which covers the whole course. Order 3 to 4 weeks out.

Key takeaways

  • Registration needs a 27in x 6ft welcome table banner ($75), a 14 ft feather flag ($149) and a 6 ft fitted table throw ($185).
  • The Signature 30 Sign Package ($495) covers 18 hole sponsors, four contest signs and 8 add ons, double sided on H frame stakes.
  • Gold sponsors get a 4x8 banner ($145), silver and bronze get 3x6 banners ($95 each), and a combined 4x8 lists everyone ($145).
  • An award set of 20 ($495) covers three placing foursomes plus contest winners, and add on awards are $25 each.
  • Set a sponsor logo deadline about 3 weeks out, because late logos are what usually holds up a sign order.
  • Proofs come back in 1 to 2 business days, so there's time to check every logo and spelling.

Walk the day in order

The easiest way to build a sign list is to walk the tournament the way a player does. Parking lot. Check in. Cart staging. The first tee. Every hole. The putting green. Lunch. Awards. Every stop needs something printed, and every printed piece is a place a sponsor can be seen.

The checklist table below covers all of it at our golf tournament pricing. Print it, hand it to the committee, and check items off as sponsors come in.

Registration

Registration is the first thing every player and sponsor sees. It sets the tone for the whole day.

  • Welcome table banner, 27in x 6ft, $75. Hangs on the front of the check in table. Event name, the cause and the year.
  • 14 ft feather flag, $149. Put it at the parking lot entrance or by the clubhouse so players find check in without asking.
  • 6 ft fitted table throw, $185. Covers the check in table and hides the boxes of tee gifts underneath.

If carts line up away from the clubhouse, add a golf cart A frame sign (16x24, $45) to point the way.

Put the sponsor banners near registration too. Players stand in line for a few minutes, and that's the one time every player looks at the same wall.

The course

This is the biggest part of the list and where sponsors get seen the most.

  • 18 hole sponsor signs. One per tee box. The sponsor logo big, with the hole number.
  • Longest drive, men's and women's. Two signs, usually on a long par 4 or par 5.
  • Closest to the pin. One sign on a par 3.
  • Putting green. One sign for the putting contest or practice green.
  • Add on sponsor and tee signs, 18x24 double sided, $16 each. Extra sponsors, a thank you sign at the turn, a sign at the beverage cart stop.
  • Golf cart A frame signs, 16x24, $45 each. Freestanding signs for cart staging, the lunch line or any spot where a stake won't go in the ground.

Double sided matters on the course. Players see a sign driving up and again pulling away. A one sided sign shows a blank back half the time.

The Signature 30 Sign Package

If you don't want to build the course list one sign at a time, the Signature 30 Sign Package is $495 and covers it in one line item.

  • 18 hole sponsor signs
  • Men's and women's longest drive
  • Closest to the pin
  • Putting green
  • 8 add on signs

That's 30 signs, double sided, on H frame stakes, with layout included. It works out to $16.50 a sign. Order the package first, then add banners, awards and registration pieces around it. Full package details are on the golf page.

Banners are where your bigger sponsors get their money's worth. They hang where everyone gathers: registration, the first tee, lunch and the awards stage.

  • Gold sponsor banner, 4x8, $145. One per gold sponsor, hung at registration or the first tee.
  • Silver and bronze sponsor banners, 3x6, $95 each. One banner per level with every sponsor at that level on it, or one per sponsor if you sell it that way.
  • Combined sponsor banner, 4x8, $145. Every sponsor on one banner. Good for the lunch area or behind the awards table.

Our vinyl banners are 15oz, hemmed and grommeted, so they hang flat on a fence or between two posts. Still working out which sponsor gets what? Our golf sponsor packages guide matches each level to its printed pieces.

Games and awards

  • Joker card game set, $85. A side game for teams during the round. It's one more thing to sell at check in, and it raises a little extra for the cause.
  • Award set of 20, $495. A 14 inch golf ball printed on 3mm metal, set on a 4 inch base. Three placing foursomes is 12 awards. Add the contest winners and you still have a few spare.
  • Add on awards, $25 each. For extra flights, a last place award or a sponsor's choice award.

Put the event name and year on the awards. Winners keep them on a shelf for years, and that's your next sponsor pitch.

Setting signs on the course

Signs only work if they go up in the right spot. Most courses let the tournament crew or the pro shop set signs the morning of the event. Ask the course who does it and when they can get out there.

  • Tee signs beside the tee box, not in front of it. Players should read them from the cart path without walking into the line of play.
  • Contest signs at the hole they belong to. Longest drive goes along the fairway. Closest to the pin goes near the par 3 tee.
  • Sort signs by hole before you leave. Stack them in order, 1 through 18, so the crew can drop them from a cart in one loop.
  • Bring a rubber mallet. Texas ground in summer can be hard. H frame stakes go in easier with a few taps.
  • Pick them up at the end. Assign one person to pull every sign during awards so nothing is left on the course.

Keep the signs. Sponsors who renew next year can reuse theirs, and you only print the new ones.

Apparel and tee gifts

Polos, tees, hats and towels are quoted on the ticket. Apparel minimums are 12 garments for one color and 24 for two. Turnaround is 7 to 10 business days from approval and payment, with rush down to 1 to 2 days.

  • Polos and hats usually look best embroidered. See embroidery.
  • Volunteer tees are usually screen printed, so the crew is easy to spot on the course. See screen printing.
  • Towels with a sponsor logo make a tee gift players actually use.

Timeline

  • 3 to 4 weeks out. Place the sign order. This is the window we suggest for a charity scramble.
  • About 3 weeks out. Sponsor logo deadline. Put the date in the sponsor agreement. Late logos are what usually holds up a sign order.
  • Proofs. Proofs on new jobs come back in 1 to 2 business days. Check every logo, every spelling and every hole number.
  • Production. Quoted on the ticket based on the order.
  • Tournament week. Pickup in Hutto, local delivery or shipping.

Ask every sponsor for a vector logo (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF). A logo saved off a website looks fuzzy at 4x8. Our print ready files guide explains why. Need a page where teams sign up and sponsors pick a level? A tournament landing page is $350, and it gives sponsors one place to see every level and the logo deadline.

Questions people ask

Before you order.

If yours is not here, call or text 512-817-2200 and a real person picks up.

What signs do you need for a charity golf tournament?

You need registration signs (welcome banner, feather flag, table throw), 18 hole sponsor signs, contest signs for longest drive, closest to the pin and putting, sponsor banners, and awards. Our Signature 30 Sign Package at $495 covers the course signs in one order.

How much do golf tournament hole sponsor signs cost?

The Signature 30 Sign Package is $495 for 30 double sided signs on H frame stakes, which works out to $16.50 a sign. Extra 18x24 double sided signs are $16 each.

How far in advance should I order golf tournament signs?

Order 3 to 4 weeks before the tournament and set the sponsor logo deadline about 3 weeks out. Proofs come back in 1 to 2 business days.

What size are golf hole sponsor signs?

Our sponsor and tee signs are 18x24 and double sided. That size reads from a cart without crowding the tee box.

Should golf signs be double sided?

Yes. Players see a tee sign driving up and again pulling away, so a double sided sign shows the sponsor both times.

How many awards does a golf scramble need?

Three placing foursomes is 12 awards, plus contest winners, so a set of 20 at $495 usually covers it. Add on awards are $25 each.

What logo file should golf sponsors send?

Ask for a vector logo in AI, EPS, SVG or PDF format. A logo copied from a website looks blurry on a 4x8 banner.
